Description

Berserk (ベルセルク, Beruseruku?) is a Japanese manga series written and drawn by Kentarō Miura. It has been prepublished since 1989 in Monthly Animal House and then Young Animal magazines from publisher Hakusensha, and 42 volumes were released in September 2023. The French version is published by Glénat, and 41 volumes were released in July 2022. After Miura's death in May 2021, the series resumed publication in June 2022 under the supervision of his childhood friend Kōji Mori and Miura's group of assistants and apprentices from Studio Gaga.

Set in a dark fantasy world inspired by medieval Europe, the story centers on the characters of Guts, a lone mercenary, and Griffith, the leader of a group of mercenaries called the "Falcon Troop". The manga was adapted into a 25-episode animated series between October 1997 and March 1998 by the OLM studio. A trilogy of animated films produced by Studio 4°C was released between 2012 and 2013. A new animated adaptation by studios GEMBA and Millepensee was released between July 2016 and June 2017.
